Venue: The Doghouse Nottingham
Date: 21/05/13
Support: Billy No Mates, kimmy yeah
Another gig, another new venue this time some place called the doghouse, an old social club taken over and used as a venue, not quite as Phoenix nights as the queens social club in sheffield though. But you don't go to many venues that have the full range of monster munch and mr porkys available at the bar.
First up tonight was a band called kimmy yeah from sheffield the singer was wearing a Hot Snakes tshirt the hardcore band featuring the mighty john reis or speedo from rocket from the crypt. I had high hopes from that, they were ok played a tight set although seemed a little confused on to what sort of band they wanted to be in my opinion.
Next up Billy no mates fronted by Duncan from snuff I say fronted he sings and plays drums so frontman doesn't really work. Anyway the sound was appalling the microphones kept cutting out, the volume was all over the shop thankfully they seemed to sort it when they blasted out skin deep by one of Duncan's other bands guns n wankers!
Time for nomeansno, now in punk circles they are pretty legendary, been playing music together for well over 30years and once again touring Europe on the wrongnam style tour.
You don't really expect people close to 60 to be able to play a set like they did including a couple of awesome ramones and ending the encore with a blistering version of sheena is a punk rocker.
Favourite track of the night for me was the near 10min song the world wasn't built in a day
